Glasgow Metallic Hardcore quintet Heads On Pikes have always been known for heavy, beatdown riff oriented music. Since their first release of Sour Taste / Separated Domination in 2025, as well as their collaborations with Bathed in Sin and Grandslam the band has demonstrated to the entirety of the scene just what getting beat down at a show truly means. And with one of the scene's heavier moshers (Callum) on vocals (my appendix can concur) these tunes are guranteed to be made of the strongest steel Glasgow's got to offer.
I've been blessed with the ability to hear these live at their show with Hellbound in Edinburgh the other day and my god what an experience it was. I've got a big problem with remembering tunes, shit always goes one ear and out the other; but these two??? Vietnam flashbacks each time they play and I'm all fuckin' for it. For now, they're only on Youtube but Callum says they're going to be released officialy further down the line.
Something many won't consider but I especially do about Heads on Pikes is just how clean these recordings are. Even live the band is super tight and with GHC legend producer Malcolm Abbou in the band it really helps Heads on Pikes gain a cutting edge not many other bands start with. So aye, go give them a listen ahead of Unfest. Unreal 141.
