RELEASES: The Body Hammer by Endless Swarm

Just today, Edinburgh powerviolence band "Endless Swarm" have released their 4th album "The Body Hammer" and I've got to say: this is one of my favourite releases to come of the Scottish scene as a whole.

I'm not normally a PV guy, it's just not a sound that clicks as good with me but I do listen on occasion, though Endless Swarm have proven to be somewhat of an exception. This album is incredibly memorable and sounds super precise. I'm a huge fan of the vocal work done and the variation in tonality with and also the experimentality to match. The songs can both be catchy, noisy and extremely heavy. My personal standouts are "Scrap Brain Zone" (who doesn't love a good Sonic motif), "Iconoclast" (the punk-y kind of friendly atmosphere to it combined with the extreme brutality and speed makes for a weird sound that I really enjoy) and "Crowning Glory" (2step galore). Must listen and I really hope I'll get to see them in October.
