Man do I love these guys. Canny See are a newcomer GHC band with a recurring theme of well; not being able to see. They had their debut performance back on June 7th of 2025 at Riffs and Ramps, which they absolutely crushed with an insanely tight set, and now they've released their debut EP: Visually Impaired.
Recorded at The Audio Lounge on the 16th of November 2025, just before playing the Charity Set on that day this record absolutely fucks. The music itself is both faithful to traditional hardcore and extremely moshable. The riffs are there, and they're pure. John's voice is really fucking versatile, he presents a good variety of unique textures which really gives the songs better flow that helps separate the whole thing.
Absolutely minted EP, sick band.
I can't describe the state of GHC right now any better than Lev (Hardstare, Lesser Beings, No Known Weakness) did in an article written by Carlos Ramirez of No Echo from like 10 months ago. He said:
"Glasgow Hardcore and music around Scotland in general feels to me like it's in a golden age just now. I've been around the scene a long time and can't think of a time there's been so many bands I genuinely love all active at the same time!"
Glasgow bands such as Grandslam and No Known Weakness are really bringing back the harsh traditional sound acts like Pay the Price and Kingpin had way back when and I'm all here for it. But there's a shit ton of varied in the GHC and Scottish Hardcore scene as a whole. Every day we pioneer our own sort of scene sound more and more, and with each release I can start to hear similarities to what is and what was. GHC is so special in way that it's always connecting to itself in ways that some might not even remember or see. God bless Canny See, god bless GHC.
